I know quite a few people who do the “daily photo” thing. I wish I had the discipline for it. I don’t. While I might be able to take a photo every day, there’s simply no way I’ll be motivated enough to upload, edit, and post a photo every day.
Even weekly is too much of a commitment. I’m not gonna lie. I’ve got a whole boatload of mental problems, but delusion is not one of them.
But every once in a while? Yeah. I might be able to do it every once in a while.
And with that, I introduce the not-so-daily photo:
I call it Girl With Chickens.
Enjoy.
Your not-so-daily photo intrigues me and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
I love this! Soon, I will have my very own “girl with chickens” here at our new place. Of course, I just love chicken photos in general. But I love that your daughter will hold chickens with no qualms, unlike my daughters who are much older than she.
This is a new development. She used to run away and be scared that they would peck her, but this fall she started being confident around them. The one she’s holding is extremely docile and “catchable” and is the one she gets most often.
Precious.
Ok. Here is my Southern Ignorance.
I am guessing it is pretty cold there. The chickens don’t freeze?
It actually was freakishly warm that day (about 50), hence why Annabel’s just wearing a fleece. But, no, they don’t freeze. We selected hardier breeds and they don’t seem bothered by the cold. On very cold or snowy days they tend to stay in the coop, which is insulated but unheated. What they don’t like is deep snow. If we want them to wander about in their pen, we have to shovel or stomp it down after a storm.
love it. The chicken she’s holding looks like poor, dead Dale. (I know, all chickens look like that.) What’s the orange one? We have an orange one that is supposed to be an Americauna but…isn’t. She’s identity-less right now.
The orange one (named, uh, Goldilocks) is a Red Sex-link. The speckly ones are Speckled Sussex, the tan one in the background is a Buff Orpington, and the black one nearly hidden by the Sussex is a Black Orpington. We do have two Americaunas and the blue eggs are, indeed, all that and more.
