Annabel launched into a impromptu soliloquy about bees during the morning drive, so I made it into a poem for you.
I like bees.
I like the music they make when they hum.
I like that they land on flowers and make more flowers.
They don’t sting if you don’t bother them, Sam.
Yep.
I like bees.
But not wasps.
Oh I love it!
GREAT JOB !!!!!! Annabel A writer just like you Mom….
Love it. Yup, she’s a chip off the old block.
I like bees too,
Annabel.
I like the low hum from inside the hive on an August night
And the alien chirp of a new queen.
They forgive me my trespasses against them
(Involuntary beeslaughter, grand theft honey).
I’m glad you like bees
Annabel,
And I’m right there with you on the wasps.
Now, what are your thoughts on pillbugs?
I wonder if it is the age. Ruth adores having the hives in our tiny urban backyard. Mostly enthusiastic to help Daniel with the bees too. She’s less afraid of approaching an open, smoked hive than I am.
